Father’s Day #1

Woken up this morning by two bricks of fine chocolate and an epic T-shirt on my chest (and a tiny fist in my face, but that's not an infrequent occurrence).

Then walked with the whole family to Cherry Beach Dog Park where the pooch displayed great courage in the face of sailboats.

Now baby naps while wifey makes me an omelette and football streams silently on her laptop.

Later we get out the drill for some serious baby-proofing.

Shaping up to be a grand day.

On the road to Ancaster we spotted a Toyota in the right lane sporting some interesting roof gear.

No shit?

No problem. Buddy's got your back. As it were.

Late. Again.

It's always interesting on the Queen Street line.

Don't know what happened. This is the scene I came to at my usual homeward bound stop. Loading a guy on a stretcher now.

Away We Go

What's wrong with this movie? Some thoughts in random order.

*Watching actors read a cute McSweeney's story doesn't make for an entertaining hour and a half.

*It's being played for realism while every word is loaded with self-consciousness. The effect is shallowness. The characters are annoying. Alison Janney alone finds her way through the script.

*Maya Rudolph is kind of adrift. I love her. She's great. But she can't hold the screen.

*There's funny stuff here but it's sandwiched between things I feel stupid laughing at.

I always thought it was a firm sucking. But there's the sign…

Which is worse?

That my household is being carpet-bombed with baby product coupons eerily timed to coincide with key developmental stages, or that everywhere I look I'm reminded of work?

Where Am I?
